Over the past few years, there have been some worrying stories about airlines and holiday companies not making visitors to Florida clearly aware about what ESTA is and why it needs to be completed.
In 2009, the means to enter the USA under the Visa Waiver Programme was changed to the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (or ESTA). This requires every adult and child who visits the USA to have registered on-line at least 72 hours prior to travelling. There is a charge of $21 for each registration. When completing the ESTA registration, there is a requirement to enter the address of a place where the person will be staying in the USA. For the majority of visitors, this will be the address of the villa.
